Tyler Crandall

Director, Owner, & Founder of Northbay SBK

Tyler discovered the magic of Salsa dancing in 2002. Through his weekly persistence in classes and social dancing he began teaching Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata in 2007.

In 2010 Tyler joined a professional dance team in Montreal, Canada known as Kizomba Canada. Dancing with the team helped him expand his repertoire beyond Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata to include Kizomba, Semba, and Kuduro. It was then that Tyler began his career as a performer.

From 2011 to 2016 Tyler founded and ran DsantosVT, hosting monthly socials, teaching classes three days per week, and performing and teaching at schools, company events, and weddings.

Tyler won first place at the World Latin Dance Cup in the professional Kizomba division in both 2014 and 2015.

Tyler Crandall, founder of Northbay SBK.

He moved to Santa Rosa, California in 2016 as a two-time world champion, and founded a new dance company with his wife Misha, DSantos Dance CA. They taught Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba and built a vibrant and close-knit dance community.

In 2020 they ended ties with Kizomba Canada, and founded North Bay SBK.

Tyler continues his studies as a professional dancer with two-time world champion and professional dance coach and competition judge, Anya Katsevman. She has played a pivotal role in refining Tyler’s understanding of proper dance technique, performance, and all aspects of professional dance.

North Bay SBK offers weekly classes, private lessons, and curated event performances. Tyler is always choreographing and performing, and preparing students for competition at Latin Dance events.

Tyler is dedicated to raising the level of social dance and performance in Sonoma County.

"For me, teaching is how I learn.  I pursue the best teachers and dancers to study with, find the most inspiring information, and bring it back to my students.  I recognize that the better my dancing is, the more I want to share my knowledge with others and help them evolve to have similar experiences.  I make space for all levels of dancers and will work with anyone who wants to improve.  Whether I am preparing a couple for their wedding dance, getting people to have a few laughs and do some moves at a birthday party, or preparing students for competition, I am dedicated to getting my students what they need to help them grow and meet their goals."
