Gina Bejarano

Salsa + Tango Teacher

Gina comes from a family of tango and salsa lovers. Her dance journey began at an early age, undergoing training in various styles and gracing the stages of numerous theaters and city festivals during her childhood. She earned her degree in Biology and Education from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional in Bogotá, Colombia. As a student, she actively participated in the University Tango dance team "MiTango," garnering multiple accolades and scholarships for representing the school with distinction at various art festivals, dance congresses, and competitions throughout Colombia.

Her dedication to Tango persisted beyond her university years. Gina pursued further training in well-known academies and received mentorship from esteemed international dancers in Colombia, namely Gina Medina and Iván Ovalle. Gina's dance training extended to diverse styles and techniques, encompassing Ballet, Barre on the floor, Salsa, Colombian Folk, African, Contemporary, and Modern, amongst others.

Tango became not just a passion but a second profession alongside her career as a Biologist. Gina engaged with Tango and Folk companies as a performer, conducted Tango lessons, and taught dance classes in local schools. Returning to her alma mater, she took the helm of the University Tango project "Somos Tango," earning national awards and recognition at university-level congresses and competitions.

In addition to her academic achievements, Gina obtained a master's degree in Evolution and Biodiversity from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. Currently, she is pursuing studies to become a Vinyasa Yoga instructor.

Embracing the roles of dancer, biologist, and educator, Gina thrives on the passion derived from both dance and education. She firmly believes in the perpetual role of a teacher as a learner and structures her teaching method around fostering body awareness during dance.

Her goal is to create a nurturing environment that encourages individual development, allowing her students to experience the innate joy and connection that dancing offers.
